Launch of new Storytelling Magazine
Packed with inspiring and thought-provoking personal stories and powerful accounts of people tackling burning issues, the magazine hopes to inspire, equip and connect people with ideas on how to change their own lives and play their part in building a sustainable and peaceful society.
Through the power of storytelling, we focus on relationship-healing; developing trust-worthy leadership; and building sustainable communities.
Editor, Davina Patel, states, ‘As children we were captivated with fairy tales. As we grow older the stories we hear are of real people that either move us to tears, make us smile or inspire us to take action in our own lives. I am proud to be Editor of a magazine showcasing these little known stories of inspiring individuals, ranging from people overcoming personal challenges, or men and women who are passionate about supporting their communities.’
The launch edition features stories from Jodie Marshall, recently appointed National Coordinator for Initiatives of Change who uses theatre to change young people’s lives; Abdi Gure, a survivor of the Somalian Civil War and refugee, addressing the stigma of mental health in London’s large Somali community, and Ian Monteague from Glasgow's Easterhouse estate on how community spirit can rise from adversity.
Changemakers is available free online. Print copies will be available for a subscription of £5.00 for two issues per year. The launch edition is available online at: www.changemakersmagazine.org. Stay connected on Facebook or follow us on Twitter @UKChangemakers.
