Economic Times, Mumbai, reports on Siemens corruption crack-down, including training with Initiatives of Change

A major feature in the the Economic Times, Mumbai, April 19th, looks at the way that the multinational is cleaning up its act.

A major feature in the the Economic Times, Mumbai, 19 April 2012, looks at the way that the German multinational engineering company Siemens has cleaned up its act after the scandal which led to the company admitting to several bribery charges and paying around $1.6 billion in fines.

So successful has been the turn-around that another engineering giant, Tata Group, is studying it closely with a view to licensing some of the processes. 

The article, by Naren Karunakaran, ends:

'Ethics must be a cultural value within the organisation,' says Bruck of Siemens India. 'Corporates must not leave it to government regulations to force them to comply.' This infusion of ethical values within the company is on. Batches of Siemens managers, Bruck downwards, are spending time at the Panchgani campus of the global NGO, the Initiatives of Change, headed by the Mahatma’s grandson Rajmohan Gandhi. It’s interesting: Siemens is moving from structures to values, while Tata is moving from values to structures. Both are critical, and needed, in equal measure.'
