Many teachers express the need for true stories that will help children with difficulties they may have to face in real life. It is hoped that children themselves will identify with some of the characters in True Stories for the Junior Assembly and find encouragement. Many of the stories tell how children have acted in difficult circumstances and emergencies.
While the emphasis is on the present day, there are some stories from the past about those who have shown qualities of resourcefulness and ca ring which have been used to benefit many people.
The seventy stories are in six sections, including 'Rising to the Occasion', 'Serving the Community' and 'Relationships'. The theme of God's love and power is in many stories and there is also a special section on this subject and one on festivals.
A group of stories on 'Animals and Nature' has also been included as children are particularly fond of animals and the natural world. There is, of course, much to be learnt from animal behaviour, and always more to find out.
True Stories for the Junior Assembly includes a full subject index making it easy for stories to be selected for particular themes.
The index also includes Bible references appropriate to the stories.
