Anne Hamlin, granddaughter writes: To begin with an amusing detail. At the time the book "I am a pagan" came out, my grandparents had a maid. When she saw the book, not knowing the word ‘pagan’, she thought it said ‘pigeon’! She asked grandma why her husband said he was a pigeon!! This story got a good laugh for years, so much so that grandpa got the nickname ‘Pidge’ as a result!
Anne continuos: My grandfather was one of the early Oxford Group team in this country, part of the Calvary Church crowd, and as a recovering alcoholic, worked with Bill W and others in the creation of early AA Alcoholic Anonymous. When he went full-time with the OG and then MRA, he used his skills as an advertising man to write things, including the booklet Time Bombs - little gems of wisdom. Then he took part in MRA theater, including being with The Forgotten Factor when they traveled in Germany post WWII. My aunt, Hope Kitchen Ayer (Mom's youngest sister), was also in that production and in various other shows in those days too.
