Graham Turner’s most recent and engaging book is 'That other voice', subtitled 'In search of a God who speaks'. In it he tells of his journey in search of an answer to the question: whether God, or a higher power of some kind, can communicate with us directly. After travelling to India, Jordan and across Britain, Turner realised the answer was to be found much closer to home. He quotes his wife, Jean, during her last illness before she died:
‘Having a quiet time is for me a cry for help and a cry for safety - safety from the unknown, safety from anything you are afraid of. That is because there is something in the silence which has a wisdom far greater than our own. It is something beyond ourselves, not just the logic we use when we work things out - an extra dimension.’
