Hortense Berthet, born on 21 August 1923 in Villard-sur-Boëge in the department of Haute-Savoie in France, and died on 30 September 2004 in Riaz in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland, was a woman who deliberately set out to enter holy orders, but only after completing a doctorate in nuclear physics , in this case at the University of Neuchâtel in Switzerland , and who became an abbess before exercising her abbatial office at the Abbey of la Fille-Dieu.
