"It's not what we do for God that counts, but what we let Him do through us." This sentence of F. Buchman we used to repeat at each of our monthly meetings, in each to others.
These were precious moments. Jaqueline Fiaux had a vision for the North Vaudois and she wanted to see it move forward. We are "the earth's salt", how can we show it? How can I transmit this wonderful experience of God in me? How does God work through me? What can we do for our city, our country, the world? The list is long of all the actions of the team because Jaqueline had at heart to work as a team. On the occasion of Irene Laure's film, thanks to the support of the video, many sessions were organized at her home, followed by a rich discussion. Teachers from all over the world came by bus from Caux to visit the Pestalozzi Center and discover the beauty of our city.
She invited a personality to our meetings, to widen the debate, she was concerned to go beyond the borders of our local problems. Whether it was a tramp, a Malagasy pastor, and all the pastors of her acquaintance, former students, all had the opportunity to come to her house, it was an open door and she had difficulty locking it. Whether it was in her building, in her regular prayer group, in the other groups she was a part of, Jaqueline was an activist and let God work in her. Through ordinary acts, she accomplished extraordinary works. There was never a dull moment with her.
She loved Caux above all else, so active when she was in full strength. For this place where God lives, she said, she trained women for room service and these were the unforgettable Bed Rallies, an idea of Marie-Claude Borel. We happily rode the bus twice a year from June 28, 1988 to June 30, 1997.
For Jaqueline, the silence, the sharing and the prayer were indispensable in her daily life. Using the silence more often in conflict situations, keeping this reflex, was a discipline, an indispensable training. She loved nature, the wild flower, and the geranium, all signs of God's goodness and magnificence. When I arrived from Geneva in 1980, I knew that I would be welcomed by two ladies from the North of Vaud, Lilette Guex and Jaqueline Eaux. I am grateful to have been so well looked after by this warm team and all their friends. We all say to you: "Thank you Jaqueline. Hallelujah. Our thoughts are with your children. May God keep them and strengthen us all. Thank you."
